How to become a Substitute Teacher

​Here are the steps to a Substitute Teacher Permit application:

  1. Fingerprint for the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
  2. Register at our SCCOE website: https://credentials.sccoe.org/credregistration.aspx
  3. Go to www.ctc.ca.gov to create an educator account
  4. Order an electronic transcript delivered to credentialservices@sccoe.org  (PDF TRANSCRIPTS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED OFFICIAL UNLESS THEY COME FROM THE UNIVERSITY TO OUR EMAIL ADDRESS, CREDENTIALSERVICES@SCCOE.ORG)
  5. Email your CBEST results to credentialservices@sccoe.org  or send an email to request a basic skills evaluation.

 
*When these steps are complete we will submit your application to the Commission on Teacher Credentialing electronically. We will notify you of the recommendation and send you instructions to complete the process.

​Mortgage Employment Verification request MUST be sent via fax or e-mail with the employee's authorization page.
 Such request will be completed within three business days from receipt date.  Requests are completed and returned via fax back to the company.  Employee's salary information will not be released via phone.
