SAY SOMETHING! Be an Upstander!

The Say Something Program teaches students, teachers and staff to recognize signs when students need help and encourages them to Say Something. This proven, life-saving program will help keep each other and our MHS community safe.

Check out our MHS Staff Members (photos to the right) who have pledged to be someone you can trust when you Say Something. Look out for their Green Sign in their classrooms and thank them for being a trusted adult.  Expand for more information.

There are three easy steps to Say Something:

  1. Recognize The Signs - Learn about different types of warning signs or threats and how to spot them, especially on social media

  2. Act Immediately, Take It Seriously - Understand strategies to take action and overcome potential barriers to being an "upstander" rather than a "bystander."

  3. Say Something - Learn how to intervene by telling a trusted adult or using an anonymous reporting system.

Make sure to download the Say Something Anonymous Reporting  System (SS-ARS) app which is used for students to report any situations in which they see a student, or themselves, in need of immediate help! Click here for instructions on how to get set-up on this life-saving service.

When thinking of all the warning signs, remember that 100% of students showcase warning signs before doing dangerous acts. With this app you will become an upstander, rather than a bystander. If you need help accessing the instructions for the app, talk to your homeroom teacher. We thank all MHS staff for delivering the MHS Say Something Training information for the app and teaching Trojans how to be an upstander.

Take action and be the school’s eyes and ears. Your decisions are important and can create a better, safer school environment for yourselves and other students and administrators! When you see or hear something, remember to SAY SOMETHING.
